Not worth the money, have read much better books, with more explanations and more details. Just not that good.

This is a well written, comprehensive source for information on all types of home solar systems. It has a wealth of information for the home owner who wants to see if solar is is the right choice. I would recommend this book to users in the information gathering phase. Well worth the money to get you started.

The book came within three days and it was during one of the busiest times of the year. It was in good condition and is very useful. Thank you!

- Not so "illuminating"...
I regret having purchased this book... I should've spent a bit more money and gotten a more comprehensive guide to Solar Power. Someone could argue it's for beginners but it left me wanting more... A book about alternative energy systems should be more detail oriented.

- Save a tree, skip this book.
This book is not helpful. Author suggests buying freestanding solar landscape lights, using a pool cover, and installing window shades. Not exactly what I'm looking for in a book that suggests I might be able to solar power my home. There is not one mention of what gauge wire I should run, what sorts of ways to properly mount photovoltaic cells on my roof, or where to get some of the ancillary hardware to run a DC current. No, I'm told that I can take out a loan against my house to pay for a contractor or settle for a homemade solar oven.

Really, I understand that this is a 'For Dummies' book, but I've had much better experience with other titles in the series. I don't need all the chapters on reducing my "carbon footprint" either. Global warming is a fraud. I want solar because I hate that I am paying taxes to our bloated government on every Kwh that clicks over my meter.

Anyways, if you are looking for a practical manual on how to get a practical DIY home solar system on-line, look elsewhere.
